FTA: So Far So Good and Our 1st Company update.

Well I thought we would be doing this first company update on FTA but alas it looks like FTA isn’t ready to go yet. But so far I can say this….. This has some major potential here! From what I’ve seen the interface is made to be easier to use…. Plus there! Also it looks completely different from any FTA or FTV previous….. And that is an AWESOME thing. Now they are saying back to the drawing board but the board they currently have is Great start!

On to WCOL 10, We have a logo ready to at launch which simpler on purpose and we have a 7 day schedule ready to go on launch day. We plan to wait a couple days before filling out the TVMart page so we can have a good feel of it

HOMETOWN WILL BE BACK ON FTA.

Retirement sucks! I’m starting to drag on my writing and I’m getting some new ideas to work with here!

I’ll give FTA a shot and bring WCOL 10 Columbus back from the mothballs.

May 5th…….The return of The HOMETOWN station…..WCOL 10!

New logo and a New look for WCOL but with a renewed spirit of excellent! It’s a revamp to the basics that made us a great company first and foremost.

Yep we’re pulling a “Joey Gill” but we said we were done with TVU….But never FTA.

We’ll give it a shot and see what happens. Maybe this FTA revival can succeed where the others has failed!

Retirement is Painless

Well, it was two months since I dropped a bomb about me leaving TVU. I just feel it is a good time to check in and see where I am at now on March, 14 2012.

I have been busy working on something mainly writing fanficton for The Daria fandom at PPMB mainly my series “Rude Awakening”. I’m not going to lie and say I’ve forgotten WCOL ….I still love and appreciate the time I have worked and put in on that station. I still have Ideas on how to make that stations better and work on it but I’ll don’t regret the decision to leave TVU for one second.=

Why? Well I thought I would stay on to the bitter end but it turned out the bitter end comes when it wants to come. I have been looking at the station in the markets I was at and I feel I have put them in great hands of great owners. Every single one except WBCS….No amount of shine could make that station work.

I have been Keeping an eye on TVU in the days and weeks since I left the game. In a perfect world this would be a thriving site with awesome members keeping it alive. In Reality, TVU is dead and like the honey badger no one gives a shit about it. It just sad to see. Just a couple days ago…I found out another long time member left the site. Activity has grinded to a halt. I’m sad to see a good game go down that way but when I think back to how we acted on there…I’m not really suprised. as much as theweb depise noobs sometimes …… noob or Newbies to a site is the life blood that can keep something going. they are that next generation that can keep something going for moths and years to comes.

I was calling for simpler rules because I saw what was happening now years before it happens. When you act like you’re an elite….you are bound to trip in your failure or jump in and drown in them. we drove members excellent members away from a site that had a small crowd to begin with. These dumb moves doomed TVU to what it is today.

I’m not going to dwell on that anymore because those who don’t reconzie the past will be doomed to repeat it. TVU had a funny way of repeating history.

For me, I got to finish part 4 on my story and send it out to beta. It has been fun walking down memory lane but it’s the here and now I got to care about for now.

It’s just time to go

Alright, If it has gone well this will be posted after we make our decision to leave TVU. Now this is something that has been in the back of our mind for about a year and I have put a lot of thoughts about this.

I’m one of those people who when I make a decision I’m sticking to it no matter what. This is a decision that will stick to.

Why now?

Why not now. At this point I’m happy where I am with Hometown as a company and as a group. I have found other things outside of TVU that I enjoy doing and that would love to more often. I never plan TVU to be permanent part of my life, but this game for it’s good and bad have been apart of my life for five years now.

I’ve met alot of people through this game and for that I thank you for it.

I’m planing to work with TVU to wind down this company in a clear and orderly fashion with CLEAR rules for the auction. Confusion is the Last thing this game needs especially now.

Overall the goal will be to find great owners for our station that will put in the work to make the best possible stations out there.

Thanks and Good bless,

De’Shawn Isaac

Fire Away!: Vision Bankruptcy Issue

There is a reason that I titled it that. I’m firing away on Vision Corp’s “letter” Why?

Because there is some Issues with how he think the issue and how it really when down? So let’s dig in shall we…..I got a feeling this will show up on The Standard tomorrow It’s isn’t my first rodeo.

Many of you will have read about what is going on at Vision Corp. Let me state the facts:

Okay. State your facts.

1) Yes I purchased WAXI and sold WANT to Peach. This was in order to comply with my new direction for Vision Corp, which is,for the time being,to focus solely on ABC Stations (WHUB ABC 5 Boston and now WAXI 11 Alive.)

1) You didn’t have the money to begin with and didn’t pay for your station….but Digress. Continue on.

Never was it my intention to cause this much hassle. Yes,maybe I should have watched the bank balance more.

DingDingDing! It look like he got the point but Maybe? Really Maybe? Maybe?

But the fact is,I had planned to sell the rest of my stations.

So you weren’t watching your balance meaning you had to sell your station.

2) Regarding the rule change: While I appreciate the reasoning behind the rule change,It just bugs me that It was changed now, when over people have been getting away with it for ages. It may be me reading too much into it,but it seems that whenever I do something in this game,I am in trouble for something,or some rule changes to prevent me from doing what I want. And Apparently I am a “High Risk Member”. As I said, its probably just me reading too much into it.

If this rule WAS in place you wouldn’t be on the brink of bankruptcy and I wouldn’t have to pay $180 Million on WNWG Buyer’s central.

3) Mediatalk: I am aware of the discussions about Vision Corp, going on at MediaTalk. However,I am unable to respond to them there, under the rule of “Never reveal your identity. So I will reply to a couple of points here:

MediaTalk Member ‘Ohiomedia’: I was never messaged regarding Buyers Central. TVU Never contacted me.

I call BS! Why? i’ll prove it with Two things.

First this This piece of of info.

Peach Wrote:
(Today 01:53 AM)Vision Corp Wrote:  $50,000,000 for WAXI?

Tried to send you a PM but your box is full… so I’ll leave it here:

There are 2 reasons why I cannot accept your bid.

1. First off you’ll be breaking many rules, like owning 2 of the Big-4s in a market (your WANT and WAXI)

2. Your track record with keeping stations active is very slim at best.

There are 3 conditions to this if you want to continue bidding:

1. You will either have to sell off WANT or give up the FOX affiliation

2. You would have to step up your game, because WGA landed into your hands once a long time ago and went from being the market leader to the last placed station in the market because of minimal activity.

3. You would need to follow all TVU rules.

I’ll reply in PM. I’ve cleared my inbox now Smile
If you cleared it eariler at 12:41am you would of received this.
The following is a message from The Bank of TVU:

——-
It should be noted that the assets of WAXI/WNWG do not have a Buyer’s Central for the properties and you will be required to pay for one if purchased said assets.
——-

So where to from here?

I honestly do not know. I will be doing my best to keep the company running. I have been granted a small loan from The Bank of TVU and the Gameplay Administrator. I will use these funds to do Buyer’s Central on a couple of stations,so I can sell them. WNDT is already ready for sale. A Buyers Central on that station was completed awhile ago.

Will see. I hope that i’m wrong with what I think it would happen.

That’s my take on it.

WGHN Atlanta to Join NBC

CBS will be moving to WCLN channel 8 which is owned By New Ventures Media and in return NBC will be moving to WGHN Channel 2 which is owned by Hometown.

From De’Shawn Isaac CEO of Hometown

New Ventures had approached Hometown about doing this before but we felt with all the changes in the Atlanta market in the last 24 hours, now would be the best time to do this.

All the changes will be taking place soon and WGHN will get a modified logo some time tonight.

A Personal Note

If you notice earlier today we said we won’t be available this weekend…. well, it’s for a very good reason. This weekend I’ll be volunteering at the (WWCD) 102.5FM Andyman-A-Thon

A little bit of background of The Andyman-A-Thon and CD101 for the Kids:

A program called “CD101 for the Kids” was established as a way to contribute to local charities around Columbus. Its most successful event is the annual “Andyman-a-Thon.” Created by Andy “Andyman” Davis in 1992, Davis would host the 48 hour-long marathon by himself on the weekend before Christmas. (It also provided the rest of the staff a holiday break to spend time with family.) The event raises money to go toward charities including the Children’s Hospital, Family and Child Advocacy, Homeless Families Foundation and the Childhood League. Listeners can call in a song request with a donation, and a live auction also occurs with donated items from advertisers and record companies. All proceeds go to these charities.

After Davis’ death in July 2010, WWCD announced that the “Andyman-a-Thon” would continue with various staffers in his honor.

This weekend, If you have the chance call in at 614-221-1025 and donate some money to this great cause. Plus, when you donate you get to request a song as well and I’ll be there on the phone overnight on Friday and Saturday Night 11p to 7a. Help out and thanks in advance.

Join Hometown, Columbus’ TVU company in celebrating our City’s Bicentennial and 200 Columbus we have a lot of surprises in store for you to celebrate this moment in our history. here is a video about this.

A video blog post from Hometown CEO De’Shawn Isaac with the company update this week, Atlanta ratings and WCOL’s new look rolling out. Also kids sleep is good as it seem my brain is not wanting to cooperate with me. Need to go to bed earlier.

What the HELL did I start on TVU?

A few weeks ago we started a new company slogan “Connected to You.” Well since it was announced about a month and a half ago - THE DAMN THING CAUGHT ON! It already caught on as the slogan of Three stations and a company on TVU that aren’t owned or have any thing to do with hometown.

Well when you start with a DAMN GOOD Slogan, It connects! I guess we are doing something right after all. Companies are seeing what we are doing here and coping it and putting there own spin to it. I love it. What the HELL did I start? Some bigger than we ever expected when we first started. Something that is better then we ever did.

A new look for a Hometown Morning Favorite

Old logo:

New Logo:

We have changed up our look for WCOL/WCDT ‘s Morning Show, Good Mornings in Columbus while we thought the previous logo was good it need refresh to keep it as great as the programming. The key is here is Hometown’s new simplicity look. We kept the key color yellow, light blue and orange but made it WAY less busier and much more cleaner then it was. We hope you like it.

Ratings Are On for WGHN!

Polls are open and WGHN is Hometown only station being rated at this time we will have  clearer view of where we are starting with on Friday.

Also vote for WGHN as Atlanta’s Choice for news……I know shameless pandering but I thought it might help for a sec. :)

Meet Jack.

Jack TV is the new variety cable channel from Hometown launching January 2.

Jack can’t wait to show you what he got in store for you as soon as he figure out his next step to world domination  or as he like to call it his programming schedule.

Congrats your company is worth $2.7 Billion!

As we know the changes with TVU rolls on with TVU 3.0 now here. One more change was announced this time dealing with money.

Our total have been inflated 1160% meaning our little total of $237 million is now $2.7 Billion. The new starting rate for companies is now $580 million.  This makes Hometown one of the richer companies in the game!

Also announced was the New buyer’s central that will unveiled after sweeps. We have decided to wait and see what this looks like before committing to anything yet dealing with anything Buyer’s central related.
